Organic Olive Oil

Organic olive farming

The olive tree is of great historical significance for Greece. Moreover, it is an important contributing factor to the beauty of the landscape and its biodiversity, to the protection of our environment and to a healthy diet of the modern man. It is a symbol; a plant which is highly associated with residents and rural producers’ deep-rooted traditional habits and way of living.

Organic olive farming methods are based on the rejuvenation of the olive tree grove soil, the recycling of the by-products and other available organic materials, and on the environmental protection and rebirth.

It is the process that best aims to yield high quality olive oil, free of agrochemical residues. Its goal is to ensure healthy people and less soil, water and air contamination. It contributes to the preservation of valuable plants, animals and genetic material biodiversity.

The method of producing organic olive oil

"Hellia"’s organic extra virgin olive oil is produced from certified organic olives only, specifically the Koroneiki variety which are located in the region of Laconia, Peloponnese. The whole procedure reflects our producers’ care and esteem, who closely follow the fundamentals of organic farming philosophy. The final outcome is a cold pressed product which compliments the high nutritional and dietary value of olive oil.

Throughout all production stages, from production to standardization to identification and marketing, statutory audits are carried out by authorized agencies. Thereby, the organic olive oil is identified as such, only if the check results are positive.

Always respectful of our consumers, "Hellia"’s certified biological extra virgin olive oil is being substantiated as free of pesticides residues.

"Hellia" organic extra virgin olive oil originates from the region of Laconia, specifically from the historical region of Monemvasia. It has been officially recognized by the EU as a product of Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) and may carry both the European and the national trademark of verified PGI products.

Products of Protected Geographical Indication - PGI

The certification of Protected Geographical Indication refers to those agricultural products whose quality, reputation or other characteristics are attributable to the broader geographic area or place from where they originate and where production, processing and preparation are carried out.
